How to use
A crayon also works when you need to repair a scratch in wood. Just find a color that's a close match to the wood, then rub the crayon or polish into the scratch. Wipe off any excess wax with a credit card edge, then buff with a cotton cloth.
1 Clean the area around the scratch with an oil-based furniture cleaner and cloth. The surface area should be dry.
2 Select a crayon that closely matches the color of your furniture piece. A slightly darker crayon color disguises the scratch more effectively than a lighter color.
3 Rub the crayon gently across the scratch and also along the length of the scratch to overfill the cavity.
4 Scrape off the excess wax with a stiff card, such as a credit card, to level the surface.
5 Buff the surface with a dry, soft cotton cloth. Try observing the filled scratch under different lighting conditions. If the scratch is still noticeable, apply the crayon again to cover and level the scratch.
